After 78 years: The Altalena ship was found in the depths of the sea

The Altalena was a ship of the Herzl organization.
In 1948, during the establishment of the State of Israel and the IDF, it arrived in the country with immigrants, fighters, weapons, and equipment.
The event turned into a historic battle between the IDF and the Etzel fighters.

This was one of the important and rare moments in the history of the state where Jews fought each other with weapons. In the battle, 16 Etzel fighters and three IDF soldiers were killed.
Now, 78 years after the event, the ship was found 503 meters deep under the sea, west of Israel's shores.
The team searched for it using special systems and sensors and eventually located it at the bottom of the sea.
