An achievement for Israeli youth in computer science

The Israeli girls' team returned from Italy with three medals in the European Computer Science Olympiad.
218 girls from 58 different countries participated in the competition.
The participants solved challenging programming problems.
They wrote code for long hours.
According to the rules, about half of the participants receive a medal.
About 8% receive a gold medal, about 17% receive a silver medal, and about 25% receive a bronze medal.
Maya Cohen from Tel Aviv won the gold medal.

This is the first time a girl from Israel has achieved this. Ola Basov from Haifa won the silver medal. Maya Sarig from Jerusalem won the bronze medal. Hanna Kahalani from Kiryat Arba also participated in the competition. The students studied and trained at Bar-Ilan University as part of a special program by the Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists.
Education Minister Yoav Kisch said the achievement reflects the intelligence and capabilities of Israel's younger generation. The program leaders congratulated the students. They said the students brought great pride to Israel.
