According to the plan, it will be possible to withdraw money from an ATM without inserting a card into the machine.

Instead of inserting a card, a credit card is brought close to the ATM. It is also possible to bring a phone, smartwatch, or tablet close. The operation works using NFC technology. This is the same technology that enables contactless payment in stores. But currently, it is only possible in stores and not ATMs.

The new method has several advantages. The card is not swallowed by the machine. It also cannot be forgotten there. Additionally, the withdrawal is quicker and more convenient. There are also fewer frauds related to card duplication.

The technology will start becoming available to the public no later than mid-2027. From June 2027, all new ATMs will support it. By the end of 2030, all ATMs in Israel must support it.
