Her parents were murdered in the camp. Shortly after her parents' death, she was forced to dance in front of the cruel SS officer Josef Mengele. Mengele arrived at the women's barracks in Auschwitz to amuse himself. He heard that Eger was a dancer. He ordered her to dance in front of him. She danced to the song 'The Blue Danube.' It was a moment she always remembered.
After the war, she rebuilt her life. She became a successful psychologist. She wrote famous books such as 'The Choice' and 'The Gift.' She wrote about the trauma of the Holocaust.
Her message was: You cannot change the past, but you can choose the future. She shared that even in the hardest moments, she felt an inner freedom.
