Subsequently, the IDF and Shin Bet also released an official statement about his death. According to Hamas, his wife and three of his children were also killed in the strike.
In Israel, they say that Odeh was one of the planners of October 7. He was responsible for the murder, kidnapping, and injury of many Israelis.
Odeh was a highly secretive figure in Hamas. For years, he was primarily involved in intelligence. In the past, there were already attempts to eliminate him. During the war, the IDF bombed his house, and his eldest son was killed.
In Israel, assassinations are seen as a central part of the war against Hamas. Since the start of the war, the IDF has eliminated many senior members of the organization. Israel says it will continue pursuing anyone connected to the October 7 attack.
