The UN wants to change the world map

The world map most of us know is called "The Mercator Map".
It was created about 450 years ago.
The problem: it shows some continents in an inaccurate size.
Africa, for example, appears much smaller than it actually is.
Now, the UN General Assembly is calling for more use of a new, more accurate map.

164 countries supported the resolution. The United States was the only country to oppose, and six countries abstained.
The new map is called "The Equal Earth Map." In it, the continents are shown closer to their real size. For example, Africa appears 14 times larger than Greenland. The UN does not ban the old map but only encourages switching to the more accurate map.
